When I came back in November after my hiatus I planned to do one post a week. That didn’t work out.
I fully intended to be back in full swing but life, well, happened. Some of you may know but back in summer my job was made redundant. I had to find a new one and although I thoroughly enjoy it there’s a lot more work. I’m now programming in research instead of in games (though part of my research is in VR).
Since starting my new job in August I have been working on multiple projects, travelled on work trips locally and abroad, signed up for some lecturing, taken on a student final year project supervisor role, and signed up for volunteer work for women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths). It’s a lot of work and although I’ve upped my anime watching time I didn’t manage to carry that over to my writing.
Instead of writing a novel, I aim to write the 50k words in blog posts. This gives me a goal without giving me a strict “must post every week” schedule.
I hope you’ll be along for the ride with me. Let’s see where this 50k takes us!
It’s been a long, long month.
I didn’t manage to win NaNoWriMo. This might be because I primarily focused on getting final versions of blog posts. I kept increasing and then decreasing my word out as I edited and reedited my posts. I did eventually give up on editing them and just focused on getting the bulk of the content done but I vastly under estimated how many words 50k was!
In the end I had 2,972 words written, not including blog post titles. It’s nowhere near where I wanted to be, but I won’t say I failed because that’s still 2,972 words towards my December posts that I wouldn’t have had otherwise.
Expect to see these posts in December. They’ll be forming part of my 12 Days of Anime posts and also my December OWLS post. Next year, though, I think I’ll try an actual novel.
