Anime

Over The Week (July 3 – July 9)

What a week. It’s been such a crazy, busy, indescribable week and weekend for me that I’ve not actually been able to read anything!!! I’ve rounded up this week’s OWLS posts so be sure to check them out!

My Reading

None! *sad face*

July – Mirrors

“When we look in the mirror, what do we see? Do we see ourselves or someone we don’t want to be? For this month’s theme, we will be exploring some of our favorite anime and other pop culture media that redefine individual beauty—inside and out.”

Beauty Within the Monster in “The Ancient Magus’ Bride”
Arria’s post this month looks at The Ancient Magus’ Bride and how the protagonist Chise looks beyond the appearance of Elias. It’s a good message about how we are fixated on outward appearance.

Brotherhood Final Fantasy XV – Listen to your body
Matt takes a look at the Final Fantasy XV anime, Brotherhood. Specially he looks at the journey Prompto undertakes to change his physical appearance and the reasons behind it.

Self-image in Fruits Basket
Zoe has a post on two episodes of the Fruits Basket anime. The manga is one of my absolute favourites and the theme of self-image that Zoe explores must comes across in the anime just as strongly as it did in the manga.
