Spring Anime 2017 Updates – Week 13

Welcome to my weekly post: Spring Anime 2017 Updates – Week 13. This is where I sum up my weekly viewing experience and thoughts on the anime season. This season I’m watching The Royal Tutor, Tsuki ga Kirei, and Sakura Quest. The Royal Tutor finished last week and my series review for that is in progress. I do apologise for this post being a day late.

Sakura Quest

The Marionette’s Banquet

To be honest, this went pretty much as I expected. As I was watching it I felt tired of the same old cycle. I mentioned it last week – we get a new plan, it turns out differently as expected then we rinse and repeat. For the first cour this has been the cycle. As much as I like this show for easy watching it could do with something different.

By the end of the episode it looks as though we might be getting that. I wasn’t quite expecting Yoshino’s story line to go where it did but it does make sense. It’s nice she came to the realisation that she did. Hopefully it’ll mean less of the same two-episode arcs repeated in the second cour.

Oh wow! Just wow!

I don’t want to spoil this and writing a final series review without spoilers will be really, really difficult…

What I will say is this episode had it all. It had love, heartbreak, anger, innocence – everything. When the end credits began to roll I wondered if we’d get to find out what happened to each of them and I don’t think it’s spoilers to say that you do. It’s very well done, through the credits, letting you know where their futures went after they started high school.

I felt my emotions pulled in all directions. Chinatsu irritated me once again but I came to conclusion it was just ignorance rather than actually wanting to hurt Akane. She saw a chance and I guess it’s no different to Hira to be honest. Just complicated by the fact that Akane was her best friend.

The raw emotions displayed throughout this episode were really powerful and it reduced me to tears more than once.

Stand Out Episode

Tsuki ga Kirei

We’ve only got two series to compare this week, one of which was a season finale. My love for Tsuki ga Kirei has not been hidden so it wasn’t really a fair contest this week. The way this episode panned out… it would get Stand Out Episode of the Season!

For now this section will be on hold now until we have 3+ series for Summer 2017! I’ve not decided what they are yet but I’ll let you know when I know!

  1. As the moon so beautiful ughh completely agree I’ve not hid my love for this show at all. I was happy with the ending it felt right honestly even though I crave for a second season where they meet later in life in highschool or something wouldn’t that be the dream !!

This show just blew my mind honestly !!

    1. I don’t think they could give us a second season unless it was well in the future. We already saw what happened to them through high school and onwards. We could maybe get a spin off focusing on Chinatsu or Hina though.
